Ex Machina Studios today announced their eight-part sci-fi series Space Nation has been acquired by Globoplay for Brazil, who will co-produce the series as a Globoplay Original. Utopai Studios will co-produce. Ex Machina CEO and veteran producer Marco Weber (Brooklyn’s Finest, Igby Goes Down, The Thirteenth Floor) is the co-creator of Space Nation and will serve as executive producer of the series, with Martin Weisz also co-creator and director of all eight episodes. Space Nation is written by Vanessa Coifman and Weisz, with Coifman also executive producing.
The rights deal was brokered by Daniel Bauer, CEO of K5 International and Weber for Ex Machina Studios.
As co-producer, Utopai Studios will support the production through its upcoming proprietary cinematic AI system, PAI Pro, which will be used as one of the production tools on Space Nation.Designed as an advanced video agent for high-fidelity, long-form creation, PAI Pro operates as an autonomous production engine.
Space Nation is a sweeping eight-episode science-fiction epic set in the near future, where humanity’s survival rests with a new generation of elite pilots. As Earth confronts an overwhelming alien threat, these young aviators are thrust into relentless combat that tests their loyalty, courage, and faith in one another. Space Nation is designed to achieve the scale and visual ambition of premium science-fiction television at a more efficient production model.
All projects will be produced in active alignment with Hollywood guilds, reflecting Ex Machina’s ongoing commitment to consent, protection, and meaningful participation for artists at every level of production. Consistent with the studio’s commitment to keeping feature production in California, principal work on the project will be based in Los Angeles.
