Carlos Lutterbach

Head of Animation

Introduction

Carlos Lutterbach is Head of Animation at Utopai Studios, where he leads the animation craft across the studio’s productions and helps shape how emerging technology integrates into professional filmmaking. Drawing on more than two decades of feature storytelling, he brings a filmmaker’s eye to character, performance, visual continuity, and the process of turning creative direction into finished work.

An animation supervisor and story artist with more than 20 years in the field, Lutterbach’s feature credits include Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, Ron’s Gone Wrong, Sherlock Gnomes, and The Simpsons Movie. He also served as Head of Animation during the final delivery phase of Coyote vs. Acme.

Lutterbach has worked with studios including Warner Bros., Columbia Pictures, Paramount Animation, Aardman Animations, 20th Century Fox, and Locksmith Animation. He also founded Neb Lane Pictures, an independent company developing original animated and hybrid storytelling. At Utopai, that experience helps ensure new production methods remain grounded in the craft, intention, and performance that make animation feel authored and alive.
