ContentAsia reports that Half Moon, the German-Korean feature that marks writer-director Hyo-joo Yang’s move from shorts to her first full-length film, has started filming in Germany, just days after Utopai Studios finished reorganizing its Asia-Pacific operation.

The unified region is led by Hyun Park, whose new title is president, Utopai Studios APAC. ContentAsia notes that Park previously ran the global division of CJ ENM’s Studio Dragon, co-ran Warner Bros. Korea and co-founded the Korean streaming platform DramaFever. Kevin Chong, founding CEO of the Korea-Japan joint venture that is now folded into the parent company, becomes Utopai Studios’ global COO.

The film is backed by Germany’s In Good Company and Korea’s Paper Barn Studios, and Yang’s short Broken Night won a Silver Bear. Utopai says the production will stay filmmaker-led, with its AI system PAI limited to select visual elements, and that the integration adds a pipeline of more than 18 film and television projects, for a total of 25 titles in development and production.
