Zijian He is the Head of Research at Utopai Studios, where he leads the company’s AI research efforts to build the next generation of multimodal foundation models. His expertise spans multimodal modeling, large-scale pretraining, high-quality supervised finetuning, and reinforcement learning. Zijian is a seasoned technical leader with a decade of experience in AI, specializing in generative AI and computer vision. Prior to joining Utopai, he led the Media Generation foundation model team at Meta’s Super Intelligence Lab and served as co-lead for flagship initiatives including Meta Movie Gen and Llama Image Generation. Before the GenAI era, he led multiple teams at Meta responsible for foundational AI technologies—such as the real-time depth estimation systems powering Quest 2 and Quest 3, as well as advanced on-device image recognition and detection models deployed across Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, serving billions of users worldwide.
